KENNY Jackett admits Steve Morison will be a hard act to follow after his departure earlier this week to Norwich.

The striker was instrumental in Millwall’s resurgence since his arrival from Stevenage in 2009, finishing as top scorer at The Den in each of his two seasons with the club.

That form was good enough to earn a move to the Premier League with the newly-promoted Canaries for an undisclosed fee believed to be up to £3m.

And although Jackett can expect to be given most the cash to find a replacement, the Millwall manager acknowledged it would be no easy task finding someone of a similar calibre to Morison.

He said: “We are working to try and improve anyway, with or without Steve.

“We are going to have to be patient to get the people we want.

“Steve is going to be a miss.

“He had got to a very good level since he arrived and we will have to work hard next year to compensate, but recruitment is always an ongoing process.

“The board are very supportive and what has come in will be used.”

One striker whose future remains unresolved is Kevin Lisbie, who spent last season on loan with the Lions from Ipswich.

Lisbie’s Ipswich contract runs out at the end of this month but his future remains unclear with the Lions because of an ankle injury sustained in the first half against Leeds on April 9.

“We are going to have to wait and see on that because Kevin is still injured at the moment,” Jackett said.
