Kings Arms get first win of season Week six of the South London & Kent Pool Alliance and in Tier Two West Kings Arms pick up their first win of the season to lift themselves off the bottom of the table.

They got themselves off to a good start against Beech Tree Nuthouse, winning the first set 4-1 and went on to win both of the next two by 3 frames to 2 to win the match 3-0 and 10-5 overall.

Alan Dolan was the star of the night winning all three of his frames with James Murphy winning two out of two and Ernest Chin and Clive Forrest were also unbeaten.

With Rileys A having a free week Rack Pack took the opportunity to close the gap at the top, although Rileys do have a game in hand.

They travelled to Bellegrove A who gave them a good run but Sean O’Connor and Tony Gear were in great form for the away side, winning three out of three and two out of two respectively on their way to a 2-1 and 8-7 win.

Nick Gillet also had a good night for Rack Pack with a 7-baller and the frame that took the match at 7-5.

Leather Bottle in the SLKPA Tier Two East made it two wins in a row with their 2-1 and 8-7 victory over Bellegrove B.

Alan Rothwell was man of the match for Leather Bottle winning all three of his frames on the night.

Erith Snooker Master 8’ers cement their place at the top with a big 3-0 and 11-4 win over Our Lady of the Rosary.

They made an impressive start winning both of the first two sets by 4 frames to 1, then the final set seemed to be going the same way with Stephen Marsters winning his third of the night to make it 2-0 but Our Lady brought it level before Glen Bradstreet won the set decider with his third of the night.

White Hart kept the gap at the top to two points with their win over New Eltham Social Club.

Earlier in the season White Hart whitewashed their opponents but they could not repeat it this time as New Eltham got two frames on the board.

Scott Shephard, Ian Cruwys and Ernie Wellhausen all won their three frames and Nela Behar won both of his frames on their way to the 3-0 and 13-2 victory.

In the SLKPA Elite League Rileys Rovers are rooted to the bottom with their sixth defeat of the season, this time against Royal Oak by 3-0 and 12-3.

Royal Oak won the first nine frames to take the match overall then Rovers staged a bit of a fight back in the final set, going 2-1 up but Paul Clements, John Kinsville and Mark Hill all won in the third set to take their personal tally’s to three frames for the night.

Fortunes are reversed for the other Rileys team in this division, Rileys Woolwich who remain unbeaten and top of the table after their 2-1 and 9-6 win against Brockleians Choppers.

Following their big win last week, Brockleians chalked up another to go third in the table.

Lee Bushell and Steve Krishnan both won all three of their frames as they notched up a 3-0 and 12-3 victory over Fox under the Hill, who had Kevin McNelly to thank for their three frames.

Second played third as Pickwick took on O’Connors and it was the home team who kept up their push for the title with a narrow 2-1 and 8-7 victory.

Dean James was the inspiration behind the victory winning three frames out of three but the away team’s Paul Shrimpton pipped him to man of the match as he included a break and dish in his three victories.

The SLKPA are looking to launch their Summer 2011 Reserve League soon.

This is a chance for new or inexperienced teams to have a look at the league and World Rules with a view to maybe joining the league proper at a later date.

It is also an opportunity for larger teams to give fringe players more regular pool in a competitive atmosphere.
