THE Woking game produced three penalties, five goals and a red card.

Saturday’s home encounter with Boreham Wood game produced the same but there the similarities ended.

The Woking game was pulsating, the latter provided cold comfort.

Boreham Wood are a bogey side for Darts and are presently fighting for league survival.

The catalyst was Mario Novo, who helped himself to a hat-trick to add to the brace he scored in film studio land earlier in the season.

Kicking to the Academy End, Darts had an early chance to take the lead when Lee Noble was bowled over in the visitors’ penalty area.

Aiming to place rather than blast, Charlie Sheringham’s spot kick was saved low down by Elvis Putnins.

Darts continued to hold sway for the rest of the half and Sheringham had the chance to make amends when Tom Bonner was wrestled to the ground going for a Billy Burgess cross.

This time he made no mistake.

What should have been 2-0 to Darts at the break ended up 1-1 when Wood levelled from a free-kick.

A training-ground ploy was employed to unsettle the home defence , involving the ball being picked up and repositioned slightly elsewhere, whereupon Notto threaded his effort through a flat-footed wall for a leveller.

The second half was a Dartford disaster. Noto notched his second with a fierce shot from the edge of the box and completed his hat-trick when Dave Bryant was felled in the area.

Goal number four was merely academic, scored by the aforementioned Bryant following a neat bout of inter-passing.

The game ended in chaos when a mass brawl broke out in the visitors’ area.

Lee Burns was red carded for, apparently, intending to deliver an action contrary to the laws of the game.
