LEWISHAM Thunders U13s basketball team will compete at the final fours in the Stoke Mandeville Stadium, in Aylesbury early next month.
They booked their place after winning every game in the league this season and will now take on Manchester Magic, Ipswich Tomcats and Notts Nova Centurions in the race to win the title of national champions.
Captain Jason Witter has led by example this season, showing consistency, superb skill and determination.
Lewisham Thunders has four players who have already been selected onto the England U15 player development pathway, Jason Witter, Rayon Brown, Andrew Trunca and Jennelle Grant.
Witter has also been selected to represent England Basketball at next month’s Children’s Sport Games, which are organised by the Turkish Basketball Federation and will see teams from 16 countries competing.
The tournament is in April with 16 countries from around the world participating.
Lewisham Thunders entered three teams (U13s, U16s and U18s) into the national league this year, further building on last season when two teams took part at this level.
In their first national league season, the U18s are through to the play-offs and two players, Omari Coates and Rowell Graham, are currently competing for a place at the U18 FIBA basketball European championships.
The U16s team, a young side containing players ranging from the ages of 13 to 15, also had a good season and finished in seventh place. For more information on the club, visit lewisham-thunder.org
