KENNY Jackett has confirmed Millwall reserve keeper John Sullivan will make the short journey across south east London to join Charlton on loan in a one-month deal.

The Addicks had drafted in Neil Etheridge from Fulham on loan as back-up after Rob Elliot picked up an injury in the 1-1 draw against Tranmere earlier this month.

However, the Cottagers opted earlier this week to recall Etheridge, leaving Chris Powell desperately short of cover for Ross Worner.

Charlton's boss decided Sullivan was the right man to step in during the crisis and the youngster heads to The Valley with Jackett's blessing.

The Millwall chief told News Shopper: "John Sullivan is a talented young goalkeeper but is behind two experienced keepers here and hasn't had too many opportunities.

"Charlton are looking to improve their goalkeeping options and the goalkeeping coach there Ben Roberts knows him very well from when they worked together at Yeovil earlier in the season.

"John is going there for a month and hopefully he gains some experience and gets some games.

"I haven't insisted he will play.

"It is a situation where he isn't even on the bench here so how he does at Charlton or whether they select him or not is obviously down to them."
