KATHRYN Sutton revised a long standing senior ladies indoor 400m record at the weekend.

The 22-year-old Dartford Harrier was competing at the British universities and college sport indoor championships at the English Institute of Sport Centre in Sheffield, timing 58.57s in her heat and 58.34s in the semi-final for fourth place.

This time was good enough to break a club record set in 1979, much to the delight of the Bath University student.

Meanwhile, the final meeting of the Kent Fitness League took place at Oxleas Woods in Welling on Sunday.

The race took place on a challenging hilly course with very slippery underfoot conditions, with Andrew Pickett the first Dartford Harrier to cross the line in fourth spot followed by Tony Durey in 19th.

Other Dartford Harriers results were: Leon Goodwin 45th, Frank Hudson 58th, Steve Hickmott 77th, Ruth Ward 99th, Julie Hibberd 207th, Jenny Goodwin 214th, Folly Golding 244th and Maureen Farmer 249th.

Elsewhere on Sunday, there were several first place finishes for Dartford Harriers runners at the southern counties veterans’ indoor championships at Lee Valley.

Teresa Eades enjoyed a double success in the W50 high jump (1.30m) and pole vault (2.00m), while Pat Halstead led the field home in the W50 800m (2m58.4s).

Gary Capon won the M50 high jump by producing a championship best performance of 1.60m.

Kirstie Taylor was in fine form in the W35 sprint events, winning the 60m in 8.4s and the 200m in 28.3s.

John Fenton was second in the M50 shot (11.09m), as was Mike Nunn in the M50 60m (8.9s) and Arthur Kimber in the M70 400m (84.1s).

Capon placed third in the M50 60m (8.3s) with Nunn completing the Harriers results by finishing fifth in the M50 200m (29.5s).
