AN OLYMPIC athlete hosted a school awards ceremony to celebrate the students sporting success.
British 400m runner Donna Fraser, who came fourth in the 2004 Sydney Olympics, presented the prizes to more than 300 pupils at Hayes School’s annual sports awards evening.
More than 600 people were in the crowd at the school in West Common Road to see 38-year-old Miss Fraser, who grew up in nearby Thornton Heath, presenting the awards.
Assistant headteacher Lee Harness said: “Not only did Donna help give out every award and congratulate all winners, she also delivered an inspirational speech.
“Donna talked about her career, in particular her experiences in the Olympics. Her main message to everybody was to believe in yourself and be determined in anything you do.”
