CHRIS Powell is confident of having an assistant manager installed by next week.
The new Charlton boss has already sounded out several potential candidates to be his number two and although no decision is expected before Powell’s managerial debut against Plymouth this weekend, the appointment should follow shortly afterwards.
Powell explained: “I’ve got Damien Matthew and Keith Peacock here.
“I will endeavour to get the right person in because it has been such a whirlwind. I have three or four names that I will be pursuing and I will choose the right person, not only for me but for this club as well.
“The response I’ve had from the three or four people I’ve spoken to was obviously positive because this is a good club to come to.
“It is down to me eventually to just make sure I’m getting them in for the right reasons and making sure they will compliment the coaching staff we have here.
“Hopefully from that we will move forward. I will endeavour to get that done by next week.
“With it being Thursday now I’m quite happy with what we’ve got here and we can manage no problem (for Saturday) but as long as it is ok for all parties, somebody will be coming in.”
