Millwall manager Kenny Jackett is confident Theo Robinson will make his loan move to The Den from Huddersfield permanent when the January transfer window opens.

Robinson joined the Lions on a 93-day emergency loan on September 8, meaning he will be forced to return to the Galpharm after the Swansea game on December 10.

The striker has established himself in the Lions’ starting line-up in recent weeks and scored the winning goal in the 1-0 derby victory at Crystal Palace on October 16.

Jackett confirmed there have been no recent discussions with the Terriers about Robinson completing a full-time switch early in the new year but added it was a deal he would like to tie up.

He told News Shopper: “Certainly we would like to because we are pleased with what he has done so far.

“The loan still has a little while to go but we hope he continues his present form because we definitely took him here with a view to being able to take him when the window opens.

“There has been no contact with Huddersfield since he came here because there is nothing that can be done until the loan ends or more importantly when the window opens on January 1.”

One Millwall striker who finds himself in the reverse situation to Robinson is Lewis Grabban, who this week extended his loan deal with Brentford until early January.

Grabban initially went on loan to Griffin Park in early October and although he has yet to feature at all for Millwall this season, Jackett says it would be wrong to assume at this stage the player will make his move to west London permanent in January.

He said: “I haven’t had any inclination from Brentford they want to make the deal any longer, or from Lewis.

“What I’ve got to do is take his situation at face value and then see what his situation is when his loan is up.

“If they want to extend it, or a player wants to go, it also depends on what our circumstances are as well because if we have injuries it isn’t beyond the realms of possibilities to call players back from loans.

“It is good for them to be going out and playing though because it helps keep everybody’s options open.”
