Boreham Wood 3-1 Dartford

Lee Noble scored a late consolation for the Darts Lee Noble scored a late consolation for the Darts

IT was a grey, dank afternoon in Hertfordshire as Darts strove to secure their first away win of the season against a Boreham Wood side recently bolstered by some judicial signings.

Overall, it was a game which once played went quickly from the mind.

Even those Darts’ faithful who made the trip in anticipation were muted.

Darts started the brighter with Ryan Hayes on the tight and the Charlie Sheringham-Elliot Bradbrook combination on the left working well.

In fact, efforts from Sheringham and Bradbrook were chalked off for offside.

Boreham Wood, for their part, countered mainly through front man Greg Morgan, backed up by the impressive Mario Noto.

The hosts broke the deadlock in the first minute of the second half when a cross from the right was turned inside the post by Dartford’s Tom Bonner.

Next week the same ball will end up outside the post!

BorehamWood were awarded a penalty midway through the second half after Adam Gross was adjudged to have handled, despite the fact the vital requirement of intent was clearly absent.

Noto scored from the spot to make it 2-0.

A Dartford attack received a relieving hoof downfield on 84 minutes where McKenzie fed Noto, who killed the game off by adding his second of the afternoon.

Lee Noble was fed by Sheringham in the final minute to score a deserved goal for a lively cameo performance from the bench.

Dartford: Young, Bonner, Gross (Burchell 77), Goodacre, Shinn, Hayes, Champion, Harris, Sheringham (White 62), Bradbrook (Noble 76). Subs not used: Rook, Whitehouse. Att: 351.
