TWO of Bexley FC’s young teams are celebrating after completing a cup double for the club.

Both the U14s and U16s triumphed in their respective Bexley League Cup finals to ensure there would be silverware going into the club’s trophy cabinet this season.

Andre Lewis and Luke Stevens were both on target for the U14s as they overcame Docklands 2-1, much to the delight of manager Daemon Bear.

The U16s turned on the goals as they brushed aside Our Lady Youth 5-0 and there was more success for the Lewis family as Andre’s older Nathan was among the scorers together with Abdallah Malima (2), Lee Bulling and Josh Eyeoyibo.

Terry Peck, who manages the U16s and is also the club chairman, said: “It is a fantastic achievement by both sides and things are looking promising for next year.

“The U16s are also still challenging for the league title with three games to go, so there may be another trophy to come from them.

“These two victories go some way for making up for the senior side’s recent 2-0 defeat in the Kent Cup final.”

Bexley FC is a charter standard club and is currently working towards becoming a charter standard development club.

It currently has youth teams in the Bexley League and Kent Youth League and two senior teams in the South London Alliance.

The senior team is hoping to progress to the Kent County League and will discover in early June if the club has met the stadium criteria which will give them the green light to make the step up.
