KYEL Reid warned second-placed Leeds Charlton will be playing with nothing to lose in their promotion clash at The Valley on Saturday.

A 1-1 draw at Exeter this past weekend guaranteed a top-six finish for Phil Parkinson’s cash-strapped side, although wins for Leeds and Millwall mean second place is now five points away.

But Reid, whose goal at St James' Park earned the Addicks the point, feels the pressure is now off them and on Leeds as the two sides prepare for a game which could provide yet more promotion twists.

He said: “It’s a big game and everyone wants to be a part of it as those games don’t come around a lot.

“It’s a great achievement for us to be in the play-offs but we still can possibly make automatic if things go our way.

“In all fairness to Leeds, they’ve done well this season and then things didn’t go their way while Norwich kicked on and deserved to get promoted.

“So it’s all down to us now to battle it out and either get second place or go up through the play-offs.”

After Charlton played host to Norwich’s own promotion celebrations one week ago, victory over the Whites on Saturday is now more likely to send rivals Millwall up.

But Reid insists the team will see out the final two games of the league campaign completely focused on their own outside chance of shocking both sides and squeaking into second with a maximum return.

He added: “It’s a funny way how football works out because we don’t really want to be doing Millwall a favour as they wouldn’t want to do us any.

“But we need the three points, so that’s what we’re going to go out there for.

“We’ve got two games left and hopefully we can get six points.”

And when the side’s ability to keep going all the way up to a possible Wembley final was called into question, the West Ham Academy graduate retorted: “We’re all still in good shape.

“We’ve got players in our team like Frazer Richardson, Lloyd Sam and Christian Dailly who’ve played 40-odd games now this season and are still as fit now, so I suppose a few more games now won’t do them too much damage.”
