CHAMPIONS Dartford picked up their 26th league win of the campaign at Harrow Borough last night.

The compulsory tunnel snarl-up meant delays which were exacerbated by a coach driver who distrusted sat-nav, map-read on the hoof and perused hand-written notes at almost every red light within 10-miles of the Harrow Borough ground.

As a result, the Darts players barely had time to get changed, enjoy a cursory warm-up or get treatment where necessary.

Even so, the game started just three minutes late.

With all this going on, it is no wonder Darts took some time to sort themselves out.

A bitingly cold night and a pitch black sky were the backdrop to this encounter but once Dartford got into their stride, there was little danger of the home side causing an upset.

Harrow were lively enough but found Andrew Young in top form once they had got past Darts’ compact defence and the keeper was limited to one vital save.

Much of the game seemed to be played in the area just in front of the dugouts.

This was because goal kicks and defence clearances were borne on the capricious wind into that part of the pitch.

The only goal of the game came when Allan Tait clinically finished a slick move which unpicked the Harrow defence.
