Crewe Alexandra 4 v 2 Millwall
Coca-Cola Championship
MILLWALL finally bid farewell to Championship football going down at fellow-relegation side Crewe and finished the season one spot off bottom place.
Ben May had opened the scoring for Millwall but his strike was cancelled out by Eddie Johnson's superbly-executed volley.
Crewe went ahead through Nicky Maynard - with his first touch in professional football - before the Lions managed an equaliser through May on the hour.
Luke Varney put Crewe back in front a minute later before Steve Jones completed the rout on 83 minutes.
Millwall caretaker manager Alan McLeary said: "We could have won the game early on. We went 1-0 up and had opportunities to make it two or three.
"If we'd have taken those, it could have been different."
He added: "It was difficult in the second half to rally the troops but they kept on going and that's all I could ask for."
