Millwall 0 v 0 Wolves

Coca-Cola Championship

MILLWALL manager David Tuttle celebrated being handed the manager's job until the end of the season with a hard-fought point against Wolves.

Glenn Hoddle's midlanders are chasing a play-off spot in the Championship while the point keeps Millwall in touch with the clubs just outside the drop zone.

Tuttle said: "Not to score is frustrating but we're going to get three or four players in this week and they will be strikers.

"I can't take anything away from us. Jody Morris, Marvin Elliott and Alan Dunne were on top. We should have won.

"We had 60 per cent of the play today but couldn't get the ball in the net. They had three very good midfielders in there but we've matched them."

And after a season of chaos and disappointment Tuttle has instilled a real sense of self-belief at the New Den.

The 33-year-old was given his first managerial role on a match-by-match basis after Colin Lee moved upstairs to become director of football on December 21.

The Lions then went five games unbeaten before losing at Preston, earning Tuttle the extended contract.

Tuttle said: "I am here until the end of the season. I have told the players the news and we can now get on with the job of trying to get out of the position we're in and start preparing for next season.

"We have some good young players coming through and some experienced players which we would like to sort out with new contracts."

When Tuttle was offered the chance to take the manager's job he grabbed it with both hands and he is now firmly focused on crafting a side reminiscent of recent Millwall teams.

He said: "Things are looking up now. Touch wood, it will turn out I am here for the long-term.

"Everyone thought at one point we were dead and buried so to keep us up would be a fantastic achievement."
