ALAN Curbishley still has his sights on two more signings - a midfielder and a defender - before the January transfer window closes. Last week's new arrival Marcus Bent celebrated his Charlton debut by grabbing the equaliser against Chelsea on Sunday and Curbishey said: "I'm looking to strengthen all three areas of the team - at the back, in the middle of the park and up front. If people become available and we've got the funds then we're going to go for it." However, there could be exits too. He said: "I know the wage bill has gone up and it's a big problem to the club but if some players go out during the window it will be alleviated a little bit."

FANS can place their vote in person in the supporters' representative election at both of Charlton's home matches against Leyton Orient on Saturday and West Bromwich Albion the following Tuesday. Voting in the election has been open online at cafc.co.uk since January 14 and a ballot box will be available at the next two home games for the club's 15,000 adult fans to select one of Brian Cole, Ben Hayes, Vince Nieszwiec or Sue Townsend. The polling booth will be located in the crche (formerly the Corner Flag Suite opposite the Superstore) from noon to 2.45pm and after the final whistle until 6pm on Saturday and then 5.30-7.45pm and after the final whistle to 10.30pm on Tuesday.

NEW £2.5m striker Marcus Bent will not make his home debut against Leyton Orient on Saturday because the former Everton frontman is cup-tied. CHARLTON'S under-18s will face Manchester United at Old Trafford in the fifth round of the FA Youth Cup following their 2-1 victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers on January 17. Strikes from Myles Weston and Chima Orelaja separated the sides at Molineux and the Addicks will travel to Manchester on February 7 (7pm). The under-18s lost 2-0 to Norwich City on Saturday.

STRIKER Alex Varney made his Football League debut on Saturday when he was a substitute for Barnet in their 0-0 draw with leaders Wycombe Wanderers. Varney signed a month's loan deal at Underhill the previous day, the forward having recently recovered from an ankle injury which sidelined him for six weeks. He joined fellow on-loan Addick Barry Fuller at the League Two Bees.

TALAL El Karkouri's first match in the African Nations Cup finished in defeat on Friday when Morocco were beaten 1-0 by the Ivory Coast. Chelsea's Didier Drogba scored the winner with a disputed penalty. Charlton centre-half El Karkouri was due to take on hosts Egypt on Tuesday with the final group match against minnows Libya on Friday.

THE Charlton women's team lost their place at the top of the table on Sunday when Arsenal moved ahead of the Addicks on goal difference. Both clubs have now played the same number of games. Charlton were meant to be in London Cup action against Fulham but the game was postponed due to the state of the Bromley pitch at Hayes Lane. The Addicks will face the Cottagers in the fifth round of the FA Cup next Sunday instead.
