TON UP: Scores of former Charlton players and fans of all ages gathered at The Valley last Thursday to celebrate the club's official 100th birthday. The highlight of the day was the unveiling of the nine-foot bronze statue of ex-goalkeeper Sam Bartram, which was revealed by his daughter Moira and a host of schoolchildren. The statue can now be seen outside the West Stand reception at The Valley.

DI CANI-NO: Greek side AEK Athens will now visit The Valley on August 6 (3pm) for Charlton's final 2005/06 pre-season warm-up after the postponement of the proposed friendly against Lazio. The decision means there will be no immediate return to The Valley for former Addicks forward Paolo Di Canio, now at Lazio, but the two clubs are in discussions about a new date.

MEET YOUR HEROES: Legendary striker Clive Mendonca and midfielder Mark Kinsella are the next special guests at the club's centenary exhibition, at Bexley's Hall Place, on Thursday night at 7.30pm. Free tickets for the evening featuring two of the heroes from the 1998 First Division play-off final are still available from the Bourne Road building and the ticket office.

ENI OUT OF LUCK: Charlton starlet Eniola Aluko just failed to help the England women's team into the semi-finals of the European Championships on Saturday night when her inadvertent header, which would have equalised Sweden's early goal, drifted just past the post. England needed a draw but lost 1-0 in a game also featuring Addicks midfielder Katie Chapman, from Sidcup. The third member of the Charlton team in the squad Casey Stoney was an unused substitute.

WALK IN THE PARK: James Walker played while Nathan Ashton started on the bench as England under-18s drew 0-0 with Norway in a friendly at Vale Park on Friday night. It was the second youth international of the season for the two young Addicks.
