CHARLTON could find themselves in for a testing business end of their League One campaign as their injury problems continue to mount.

In addition to losing Grant Basey for the remainder of the season back in February, manager Phil Parkinson has confirmed that the only other recognised left-back under contract, Kelly Youga, probably won’t feature again either.

He admitted: “I would say it’s doubtful that Kelly will return this season. He did play in the reserves against Chelsea for 60 minutes but I’d say he’s doubtful.

“We’re going to give him another few days just to see if there’s been an improvement or if we’re going to have to send him back to the specialist.”

Joining Grant and Kelly following Saturday’s game against Gillingham were goalkeeper Rob Elliot, who had to be replaced at half time by Darren Randolph with a groin complaint, and top scorer Deon Burton who has been plagued by niggles over the last few months.

The injury to Deon means that the Addicks are now two strikers short, with Leon McKenzie still on the sidelines On Burton, Parky added: “Deon couldn’t go on. I’ll go back and see how he is but it doesn’t look good when you’ve come off with a medial ligament strain and it’s a shame because he’s been outstanding for us this season.”
