GRAVESEND Hockey Club’s first team played host to Upminster, who were third in the table and looking for promotion.

The Gravesend defence and midfield put in a sterling performance with keeper Lucy Allinson making some crucial saves and player of the match Andrea Kitchner having an excellent game, making numerous solid tackles.

Gravesend’s forwards played hard for the whole game but, even though they won several penalty corners, they were unable to convert their possession into a goal leaving the final score 0-0.

Meanwhile, Gravesend’s third string went down to a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Sevenoaks fifths.
