JACK Parkinson says he is keeping all options open after the Welling skipper took part in a trial with League Two Bournemouth.
Parkinson’s impressive form for the Wings attracted the interest of the Cherries and Leyton Orient are also monitoring his situation.
But the central defender is not getting carried away just yet and claimed his number one priority is propelling Welling into the play-offs.
He told News Shopper: “I spent two weeks at Bournemouth and it was great for me to experience training with professionals and getting myself fit.
“They treated me really well and I watched their midweek game with Barnet where I got to see what it was like being part of the set up.
“The training was a lot sharper in the second week with a lot of keep ball.
“Bournemouth haven’t got a massive budget and there is a transfer embargo there, so nothing can happen at the moment anyway.
“I’ve got my own coaching company and I would like to keep it going.”
Parkinson added: “If the opportunity came I would certainly be interested but I’m really enjoying playing for Welling and just want to concentrate on reaching the play-offs.
“All of the players believe we can make it but we know Wednesday’s game at Eastleigh is massive.
“Saturday’s game at Weymouth was a tricky one because they’ve had a lot of problems there and everyone expected us to just turn up and get a result.
“We worked hard to get the win and we’ve got them again, Weston and Lewes all to come, so it is in our hands.
“There are some tough games over Easter as well with Braintree away quickly followed by Dover at home and they will be big matches.”
Day was quoted elsewhere as saying Parkinson would be best advised to stick with the Wings for another year to continue his football education and the player himself doesn’t necessarily disagree with the assessment.
He explained: “I’ve learnt a lot from Jamie and Barry Ashby in particular, because he is a former professional centre half and has taught and improved me in that position.
“People forget I haven’t been a central defender for very long, it has probably been for a season now.
“I would definitely listen to what Jamie has to say and take that on board.
“Who is to say anything is going to happen from all of this anyway?
“I’m still a Welling player and that is all I’m focused on at the minute.”
