Thamesmead slip out of the play off zone after a 2-1 home defeat to Great Wakering Rovers on Saturday.

After Lee Barnett hit the Wakering bar, the visitors then took a two goal lead before half time, thanks to goals from captain Dan Trenkel and debutant Rob Whitwell.

Andy Constable missed the chance to pull one back when his 75th-minute penalty was saved by Louis Godwin-Green and although Scott Mulholland did find the net three minutes later, Wakering held out for the win.

With other clubs having two games in hand above Thamesmead in the table, play off chances now look slender. Mead can keep their hopes alive with a win away to Ware this Saturday.
