VCD fielded their young starlets once more as they played their third fixture in five days away to Redbridge.

With 19 year old keeper Tim Roberts behind 17 year old George Mitchell, 19 year old winger Callum O'Shea, 17 year old winger Tom Bradshaw and a front line of Reece Walsh (19) and Uche Ibemere (17) the side had a youthful look to it.

Redbridge were awarded an early penalty when Gary Cook bundled over the lively forward with a blatant foul.

The forward sent the ball to Robert's right hand side and his shot bounced back off the post and was cleared to safety.

Minutes later O'Shea was adjudged to have tripped the same tricky forward and this time the forward slotted home sending the ball the same way past Roberts.

The Vickers created plenty of chances to score with Bradshaw, Ibemere and O'Shea all going close.

The equaliser came from a Hogg corner with Ibemere rising at the far post to power the ball home.

The second half saw some fine attacking play from the Vickers with new signing Jason Dolby putting in a man of the match performance in the centre of midfield.

O'Shea sent in a series of crosses and Ibemere and Walsh both threatened.

The winner came on 80 minutes from another Hogg corner that was met by Watson at the far post and Gary Cook headed home from 2 yards.

Substitute Nick Hegley was released by Hogg and with just the keeper to beat his shot was easily saved.

Redbridge pushed for an equaliser but found young keeper Roberts in fine form claiming a series of crosses with ease.

VCD Line up Roberts, Watson, Hunt, Dolby, Cook, Mitchell (Barton 65 mins), Bradshaw (Hegley 65 mins), Hogg, Ibemere, Walsh (R Cole 80 mins) Subs not used Jack Asbury and Danny Penny
