KENNY Jackett says he is taking one game at a time as Millwall prepare for one of the biggest weeks in their season so far.

The Lions sit just outside the play-offs on goal differences after an incredible run which has seen them win seven of the last eight games.

That form has put Jackett in the running for the February manager of the month award ahead of this weekend’s trip to Walsall.

Millwall then face a long trek north on Tuesday evening to Carlisle before rounding off the week with a Den derby clash with Charlton.

And although pleased to be considered as a manager of the month winner, Jackett’s focus remains firmly on Saturday’s visit to the West Midlands.

“It is nice to be considered in those circles,” he said.

“The club has had a reasonably successful month and I’m pleased with that because results have been good.

“We know we have to be on top of our game all of the time to get results and we need to really concentrate both ways and be as competitive and whole hearted as ever.

“But really we must take responsibility on the ball to play constructive football, make things happen, make sure we pass that ball and work it up the pitch with purpose and understanding to ensure we do create the chances to justify our ability.

“I’m only looking at the Walsall game at the moment because after that we go to Carlisle pretty quickly.

“It is nice our season is still ahead of us and we are not looking at what has happened in the past.

“With the 13 games we have coming up, it is good to know our whole season is in front of us.”

Jackett isn’t the only Lion in the running for a potential gong, with top scorer Neil Harris also a candidate for League One’s player of the month.

The Lions chief said: “Neil’s goal scoring has been very good and the big as well is the fact they’ve been crucial goals which have earned us points.

“He has done very well and has had a good season so far.

“His goals tally speaks for itself, but his overall contribution has been very high as well.

“Any experienced player will lead by example but which way they lead is different.

“Neil’s experience of doing well at Millwall is considerable and that is important too.”
