The tough, London division one south, away league fixture against Sidcup, cancelled earlier in December, has been re-arranged for Saturday 2nd January with a kick off 2.00pm. This date had originally been put aside for G's opening Kent Cup fixture away at Maidstone but the Cup game will now be played on the following day, Sunday 3rd January at Mote Park kick off 2.00pm.
The decision to play twice in a weekend was fully discussed at a recent meeting of the senior squad and, true to form for this league leading group, they were still keen to go for the challenge so soon after the seasonal festivities.
Quizzed on the decision, Head Coach Bob Hussey said 'given a busy league programme and a deadline on fulfilling the Kent Cup fixture, we were faced with limited options. The lads were keen to re-appear in the Kent Cup Final and would not cry off the Maidstone match. Saturday will be hard at Sidcup but I have no doubt the squad will be up for it at Maidstone the following day'.
The players, who have enjoyed a good following at away fixtures this season, are keen to see the usual band of supporters at both games.
