DAVID Gold is watching this afternoon’s Charlton v Southend game at The Valley, prompting speculation the former Birmingham City owner may be on the brink of making a bid to takeover the Addicks.
Gold has been strongly rumoured to be interested in the League One club since selling up at St Andrews, although he has also been linked with taking over West Ham, the club he grew up supporting as a boy.
However, his attendance at today’s Southend game instead of the West Ham v Manchester United clash is bound to raise hopes Charlton’s long search for new investment could be about to pay off.
Deon Burton's 25th minute winner sealed three points for the Addicks to close the gap on leaders Leeds United.
