Brothers team up for Addicks


HISTORY was made on Saturday when Akpo and Sam Sodje became only the seventh pair of brothers to play for Charlton.

Striker Akpo joined the Addicks on loan on the morning of the match against Milton Keynes Dons, and was a second-half substitute in the 5-1 win, becoming the 699th player to represent the club.

The Sheffield Wednesday forward will stay at The Valley until at least the Southend United match on December 5, but manager Phil Parkinson stressed the deal could be made permanent.

A COMMUNITY project that supports playing opportunities for youngsters with Down’s syndrome is bidding to win over £30,000 as part of the People’s Millions scheme.

IZALE McLeod will again be unavailable against Yeovil Town on Saturday as he serves the third match of a three-game suspension.

AFTER missing three games due to injury, right-back Frazer Richardson returned to the Charlton team on Saturday, but limped out of the action midway through the second half.

His injury was being assessed on Monday, but goalkeeper Rob Elliot is nearing a return to action.

WOKING are the only thing standing in the way of Charlton’s U18s and a home FA Youth Cup tie against Chelsea.

The Addicks take on the Cards tonight at 7pm at The Valley, with the winner paired with the senior academy side of the Premier League leaders.

The U18s entertain West Ham United on Saturday (11am) at Sparrows Lane after last weekend’s match against Crystal Palace was postponed due to the weather.

PLC chairman Richard Murray will answer fans’ questions at a special event at The Valley on November 26.

The evening, which was organised by the Fans’ Forum in July but had to be postponed due to legal advice Murray received relating to a potential takeover at the time, has been reorganised, and refreshments will be available.

Tickets, priced £5, are selling fast for the event, which will also feature entertainment from the Funky Chicks.
