A LATE equaliser from Billy Burgess saved Dartford’s blushes as they shared the spoils with basement side Bognor Regis Town in a six-goal thriller.

Bognor Regis were able to parade Slovakian U18 international Andrej Pornecky in goal thanks to a work experience deal with Southampton and he certainly got plenty of it as Darts laid siege to the penalty area for much of the first half.

There were a series of near misses as Dartford piled on the pressure, typical of which were headers from corners skimming the Bognor bar and a Ryan Hayes corner which hit the far post instead of going in.

Then, of course, there was young Pornecky, watched by his parents, flying in for the occasion and, sadly, missing the last few minutes of the game to fly back home.

He made a series of flying saves, both singles and doubles which kept the score blank.

With half an hour gone Bognor had a break led by Sam Tucknott.

He weaved his way into the Darts’ penalty area, forcing Andrew Young into a save which reached Louie Castles and his centre was headed home by Jason Prior from six yards.

The second half was slightly delayed as Tony Burman’s precise instructions were taken aboard in the home dressing room.

However, it was Bognor who scored again on 56 minutes when Prior headed home his second from an Oatway corner.

Before Bognor could pinch themselves, Dartford pulled one back when Danny Harris finished a good run with an exquisite lob over Pornecky’s head.

Parity was then restored when Harris got a touch to a Hayes free-kick.

But Bognor fought back and regained their advantage when an aimless ball into the Darts’ penalty area caught Young out of position, allowing Prior to complete a hat-trick of headers.

Outraged, Darts produced a champion’s response and pounded away at the Bognor goal and justice was done when Burgess forced the ball home in a goalmouth melee following a Hayes free-kick in stoppage time.
