DARTFORD finished as joint winners of the first ever Kent final of the Panathlon Challenge after a thrilling finish at the Malling School.
It was impossible to separate Dartford and Mid Kent & Ashford as the two teams finished level on 46 points.
Malling, Sevenoaks, Sheppey and Sittingbourne were the other teams who took part.
The Panathon Challenge is a multi-sports event for young disabled people, similar to the Paralympics, and includes a number of different disciplines.
Competition was fierce throughout the day with each of the winning teams recording two wins and two second places out of the six events, which included athletics, polybat and new age kurling.
The winners were pushed all the way by the teams from Malling and Sheppey.
More than 100 children took part after booking their places in the final after success in the knockout rounds.
Event organiser Ashley Iceton said “What a wonderful way to end the first Kent Panathlon final.
“We are used to close finishes because the competition between the teams is so intense, but we could not separate the winners today.
“Everyone involved in the event is looking forward to the next one in 2010.
“The organisers and participants are grateful to BBC Children in Need and St.James’s Place Foundation for their generous financial support, without which the event would not have taken place.”
