PLAYERS and officials at Dartford Ladies FC are celebrating after being awarded £4,898 from the big lottery fund’s ‘Awards for All’ programme to launch their ‘Football for All’ project.
The grant will allow the Wilmington-based club to finance and hold their own coaching disabled footballers course at North West Kent College in mid-July.
This will give a mix of their own players and local FA qualified coaches the opportunity to become involved in the year-long project.
Following the six-hour course, Dartford Ladies will organise and host a ‘Football for All’ fun-day at a local venue in August.
Players in the community with learning and physical impairments will be invited along to begin or extend their participation in the sport, followed by a series of regular monthly coaching sessions until the summer of 2010.
Vice-Chairman and project leader Brian Page said: “The club is extremely grateful to be awarded the grant.
“It gives us the opportunity to offer specialist coaching sessions in the community, enabling disabled children and young people to participate in and benefit from football in a safe and controlled environment.
“Without this award, a project of this size would be impossible to co-ordinate.”
