EBBSFLEET boss Liam Daish praised his players’ resolve after they battled back from a goal down to secure a vital victory over Lewes on Easter Monday.

The Stoneridge Road side's 2-1 triumph moved the Fleet up to 16th in the Conference table and eased their relegation fears.

Daish said: “Obviously this was always going to be the game which we had targeted picking up maximum points from, so after going a goal down we showed remarkable spirit and will to come back and win.

“This is especially so after the amount of games we have played, something which has been well documented.

“It was tough but we got on and did it.”

Lewes defied their lowly position at the bottom of the table to give Ebbsfleet a real scare, something Daish was happy to acknowledge afterwards.

He said: “They can play without fear of losing as they already are aware of their their fate.

“They can play with abandonment and without responsibility, something which can cause you problems as it did on Monday.”

And Ebbsfleet continue their hectic end to the season tomorrow when they visit play-off hopefuls Histon.

Daish added: “We always try to pick up maximum points, no matter who the opponents are.

“We will just try to impose our game on them and hopefully this will be enough.”

And Daish is urging his players to call on all of their collective physical and mental reserves to secure a place in the Conference next season.

He said: “We will be trying to get as many wins as possible and hopefully get performances out of the lads because of the amount of games they have played.

“I’m grateful as they have worked incredibly hard and we will try to get as much out of them physically from now to the end of the season.

“If they do that, then it will be good enough for me.”
