RUDOLPH Douala is discussing terms with Charlton this afternoon to secure a deal at The Valley.

The Cameroon international striker has been on trial with the Addicks since early last week and scored for the reserves in yesterday’s 3-2 win over Gillingham.

Although it was reported elsewhere on Monday the former Portsmouth player had already penned a pay-as-you-play deal, Charlton have yet to formally sign the 30-year-old, although that could all be about to change soon.

Addicks coach Mark Kinsella said: “All I know is he played yesterday again for the reserves and by all accounts did well.

“I think Phil Parkinson is speaking to him today and a decision will be made on him.

“He has settled in very well during the last 10 days. He played yesterday and has come in for a warm down and for his meeting with the gaffer today.”

Another issue which appears likely to be sorted quickly is the on-going problem Izale McLeod is having with Millwall.

The Lions revealed last week McLeod’s loan deal at The Den, which was due to last until the end of the season, had been cancelled by “mutual consent” after a rumoured bust-up between the player and manager Kenny Jackett.

However, the Addicks quickly rejected the claim and said they didn’t want McLeod back because he wouldn’t be available for selection in SE7 under the terms of the loan.

Kinsella said: “That is being sorted out today. Izale is linked with them for the remainder of the season so unfortunately can’t play for our reserves or first team until then anyway.

“An issue has come about which he has to sort out between himself and Millwall.

“Hopefully they will sort it out quickly and get back to playing again because he scored two goals a couple of weeks ago for them and I think he has settled in.”

Bottom side Charlton will be looking to cause a shock this weekend when they travel to leaders Wolves.

However, their cause has hardly been helped by the fact central defender Darren Ward is ruled out of the clash under the terms of his loan deal from Molineux.

Kinsella explained: “Darren Ward is unable to play against his former club but other than that we have a clean bill of health.

“Darren has been excellent for us but we knew this was going to come and the same with Graeme Murty against Reading had we extended that one.

“Butterfield has come in and settled in well along with Ward. He and Mark Hudson have been solid for the last couple of games for us and they put in another solid performance on Tuesday.

“We’ve got a couple who can play centre half.

“Matty Holland has done it in a couple of games in the last month and he will probably be the favourite to step in but Kelly can play there because we are covered for left back, so there are things we can work around and we will sort it out tomorrow.”

Charlton head to the West Midlands on the back of three straight draws on their travels, the latest point coming at Reading on Tuesday evening.

Kinsella is pleased with the improved displays on the road, although he concedes draws probably aren’t good enough for the Addicks in their present plight.

He said: “We know three points are vital. Everybody expected us to lose at Swansea and we came off the pitch delighted with a point to find out we were two points further away.

“That was a kick in the teeth we didn’t need.

“Obviously the two home games we had in a week against Doncaster and Watford was a massive slip for us, but we went to Reading and got a point and will go to Wolves looking for three.

“We need three and we set out to win games and it will be no different on Saturday.

We know they are under pressure themselves, as Reading were.

“All three of the top teams keep drawing every week and we know Wolves are trying to hand on to their lead. We are going to go there and try and get the three points.”
