Millwall 0-0 Crewe Alexandra

BOTTOM of the table Crewe held Millwall to a goalless draw at The Den on Saturday.

The Lions have been in outstanding form at home so far this season, but couldn’t break down the Railwaymen’s stubborn defence.

In a poor contest Kenny Jackett’s side will feel aggrieved not to have taken three points from the game after dominating for large periods of the match and creating several decent chances in the first half.

With five minutes on the clock, 21-year-old Crewe forward Shaun Miller turned Tony Craig and fired a dangerous effort across the face of David Forde’s goal.

However, from then on Millwall took control of the game.

First off, on-loan striker Tresor Kandol shot straight at Stuart Tomlinson in the Crewe goal after good work by Lewis Grabban down the left flank before Neil Harris, in search of his 112th goal for the club, spun in the area but his effort was parried away.

On 30 minutes, Andy Frampton’s cross was deflected straight at his own goal by John Brayford, but Tomlinson was again alert as Millwall piled on the pressure.

The Lions nearly paid for that wastefulness, when on 41 minutes Crewe’s half-cleared corner fell to Brayford who volleyed just over the bar.

The second half started brightly with David Martin shooting just wide for the Londoners.

However, both sides struggled to create any real opportunities and were forced to share the points.
