MILLWALL boss Kenny Jackett says there are no plans to splash the cash during the January transfer window.

The high-flying Lions have enjoyed a successful start to the campaign, chasing promotion to the Championship and booking an appearance in the third round of the FA Cup.

Jackett has been promised money to spend by chairman John Berylson, but the manager appears reluctant to make any radical changes to his present squad.

He said: “There has been no figure discussed for what I have to spend in the transfer window and what we do in January will be dictated by what happens over the next month.

“At the moment we are going quite well and have got some competition.

“I’m not necessarily saying we don’t need anything, but we are not in a bad situation and the group of players I’ve got here are doing well.

“Fast forward a month and we will see then what the situation is, but there are no plans as we stand here at the moment to make massive changes.”

The boss also confirmed Adam Bolder was likely to extend his loan from QPR today for another month.

Bolder spoke earlier this week about his desire to make the move to The Den permanent when the transfer window opens, but Jackett was unable to give any firm commitments.

He explained: “It very much depends on how things go between now and then for us and also for Adam.

“QPR are happy to extend his loan and a lot depends on what they think as to whether it can become a permanent deal.

“They’ve let him play in the FA Cup and those are the sort of indicators which tell you things.

“Adam will have options himself so it depends on what QPR and the player think, but we’ve been pleased with him so far.

“We’ve got him until Saturday and are hopeful of extending it until the January transfer window.”

Millwall discovered last night they would face Crewe in the third round of the FA Cup following their triumph over Carlisle.

Jackett admitted: “It is not the big draw we were all looking for. Everyone was looking for a big Premier League club away from home, but we’ve got a home draw against a club in our division.

“We don’t take anything for granted but we’ve got to say it is an opportunity to try and get through to the next round just like the Chester and Aldershot games were.”

Millwall continue their promotion push on Saturday with a home game against Bristol Rovers.

“We are looking to keep the momentum going and Bristol Rovers is the next challenge for us,” the manager said.

“It is a big opportunity and one we are really looking forward to. We are hoping Whitbread is fit and available and the next 48 hours will tell if he is.”

One man who will not feature is Danny Spiller, whose attempts to shake off the long-term injury problems which have overshadowed his stay at the clubs.

Jackett said: “He is going to see a specialist tomorrow and may need an operation on his hip.

“It is a blow because he has had one thing and another in that area in the last 18 months. I’ve a lot of sympathy for him because he is a real hard working player.”
