WELLING boss Andy Ford says he is none the wiser as to the whereabouts of midfielder Ellis Green.

Green has not been involved in the first team squad since appearing on the bench against Eastleigh on November 8 and the manager confirmed a return to Park View Road was extremely unlikely.

Ford said: “We had a conversation after the Eastleigh game and that was the last contact.

“I haven’t seen or heard from him since and I simply have no idea where he is or what he is up to. I’ve called and texted him trying to find out, but he hasn’t got back to me.

“Welling still retain his registration, so he can’t play for any other side in this division but there is nothing we can do to stop him joining a team outside of our league.”

Ford also confirmed another player may be on the brink of quitting the club in the coming days.

He added: “There has been a request from Grays to call back Sanchez Ming and we will find out by the weekend if it happens or not.”

The Wings booked their place in the next stage of the FA Trophy on Tuesday evening with a 2-1 replay win at AFC Totton.

Orlando Smith and Tony Sinclair grabbed Welling’s goals, but perhaps the real hero was new goalkeeper Clark Masters after he saved a penalty with the scores level at 1-1.

Ford said: “He is a professional goalkeeper who trains every day at Southend United and he will be playing for them next season.

“They wanted him to come out and play some games and he has already made a name for himself here with that penalty save.

“If I think there is any area of the team which needs improving then I will not hesitate to do so.”

Welling travel to Dorchester in the league on Saturday and the Wings will welcome back Loui Fazakerley following his recovery from the dead leg which kept him out of the Totton replay.

Graeme Andrews returned to the bench on Tuesday and should feature in Saturday’s squad, as will Jack Parkinson and youngster Ayden Richards.

Ford added: “It is good to get some experienced players back because our bench has had a lot of youngsters on it in recent weeks.

“Ayden Richards has progressed really nicely and should be involved at Dorchester.”
