Team Bath 0-3 Bromley
BROMLEY returned from Twerton Park for the second week running with three points tucked safely under their belts.
This time, it was fifth in the table Team Bath who suffered at the hands of the Lillies, who recorded back-to-back victories for only the second time this season.
Two goals from Warren McBean and another from Nic McDonnell did the damage.
The Lillywhites had the first attempt on goal when McDonnell’s shot on the run was just over the bar in the third minute.
Thereafter it was the home side who enjoyed the lions share of the first half possession, but they were thwarted by a solid-looking defence.
Matt Cooper fired wide in the eighth minute after being put clear on goal by Marc Canham’s through ball, before full back Matt Lock’s long shot was only just wide following a poor clearance. Livewire Josh Llewellyn saw a header skim the crossbar and Gareth Williams was quickly off his line to save at the feet of Llewellyn a few moments later.
Rather against the run of play, the visitors took the lead a couple of minutes before half-time. Luke I’Anson intercepted a clearance on the halfway line before playing a pass down the left touchline to McBean. He took the ball to the byline before pulling it back to McDonnell for a simple tap in.
The visitors came more into the game in the second period and went two goals ahead on 57 minutes when McBean fastened onto a long clearance and, as the goalkeeper hesitated, he rounded the custodian before running the ball into an empty net.
Ashley-Paul Robinson went close with two efforts before Bromley sealed victory with a third on 75 minutes in similar circumstances to the second. Ryan Dolby’s long clearance was missed by a defender and McBean ran on to nick it over McCarthy’s head to again run the ball into an empty net.
Bromley continued to dominate in the closing stages, with Theo Davis seeing a 35-yard volley go wide and I’Anson twisted and turned to force a brilliant one-handed diving save out of McCarthy.
