Lillies boss keeps feet on the ground

MARK Goldberg is warning his Bromley players not to get carried away after a week of spectacular results in pre-season friendlies against Football League sides.

The Lillywhites went into Tuesday's home clash with Brentford having already beaten Charlton 1-0 and drawn 1-1 with Crystal Palace.

Mark Corneille's superbly struck first half effort was cancelled out shortly after the break by Brentford's Alan Connell.

However, Goldberg's side underlined their resilience and hit back through Warren McBean to earn a 2-1 victory and make it three games unbeaten against professional outfits.

Bromley face a test of a different kind this Saturday when they face fellow non-leaguers Sutton United and the manager has told his in-form squad to take the game just as seriously.

He explained: "You play three league teams and remain unbeaten, but you can then lose against a side in and around the same level and things aren't looking quite so promising.

"Our expectations are high now and I went them to be maintained, but we have to realise Sutton are a real test as well so we go into the game level headed."

Despite the caution, Goldberg admits he is delighted by how things have gone so far.

He added: "Our preparations are certainly going very well after three games and I was pleased with how we played against Brentford.

"Mark Corneille took his goal very well and is playing a new role up front.

"He has taken the responsibility and looks like he can be as good in attack as he was defensively.

"Warren is delivering what I thought he would because I knew he was someone who would always bring us goals. His finishing is clinical."
