Burman content with away triumph

TONY Burman was more than happy with his Dartford side's display last Saturday against Enfield Town.

The Darts delivered an inspirational performance, displaying some good football and putting away three goals without reply.

Burman was particularly delighted with the goals because they all came from set pieces, something the team had been failing to do recently.

He said: "It doesn't surprise me we're scoring from set pieces, we're a big team and it's about time we started taking advantage of this again.

"We believe when we have a dead ball in a threatening position, the resultant set piece can end in a goal.

"Of late we haven't been doing this as much and we've worked on our delivery in training.

"Set pieces are very important to a team and carried out correctly, can be a major asset to the strike force."

New signing Luke Piscina was given a run out after the Darts had all but secured the points.

Burman was content with his debut performance for the club and feels he has a lot to offer to the squad.

He said: "Luke is very pacey and can play in one of two positions, either up front or as a wide player.

"He offers us a lot of options and has a real eye for goal.

"So far he has looked very sharp in training and we feel he can cause trouble either down the flanks or in front of goal."

The Darts manager also confirmed they are looking at other potential signings, but revealed nothing is concrete.

He said: "There are players we're tracking at the moment, but whether or not we'll get them is another matter."

Burman is now concentrating on Dartford's next match on Saturday when the league leaders entertain Ware at Princes Park before taking his side to Canvey Island on Easter Monday.

He said: "We got what we wanted on Saturday which was the three points, but now we have to move on to the weekend fixtures.

"Easter is always an important date in the football calendar with two games in a short space of time.

"We go into every match with the intention and belief we can win each game and this is the mentality which we will carry with us for the rest of the season."

Adam Flanagan will miss the Easter double-header through suspension, while Eddie McClements will continue to sit on the sidelines as he battles to recover from injury.
