BBHC hold on for victory

BEXLEYHEATH & Belvedere Hockey Club's first team held on for a 3-2 win at Winchester after a storming second half fightback from the hosts.

A fiery game saw BBHC pick up three yellow cards and Winchester one.

BBHC edged the first half and made Winchester pay by converting the chances which came their way.

Dan Lucas struck first after he tucked the rebound from his own shot coolly past the keeper.

Two goals from Andres Labourt, the first from a short corner strike which went through the Winchester keeper and the second a sweetly-struck shot from the top of the area, gave BBHC a 3-0 half-time lead.

Winchester came out firing for the first part of the second half and scored twice in quick succession.

Their first was a short corner which post man Kevin King could only take the pace off and the ball crept over the line, while the second was a penalty stroke.

The game levelled off, but chances were had at both ends and BBHC came closest when Labourt hit the crossbar.

Victory extends BBHC's unbeaten run to three ahead of this week's home meeting with table-toppers Tulse Hill.
