IT was a busy week of cup action for the Gravesend League sides.

In the three groups in round five of the Kent Junior Cup, the League had five representatives playing against teams from across the county.

Woodlands Athletic enjoyed a 2-0 home success in Group B against Sturry thanks to first half strikes from Neil Marshall and Dan Ingram, both efforts crossing the line after striking the underside of the crossbar.

The Gravesend League have high hopes of a final appearance from Heathview United in Group C and they did not disappoint with an impressive 4-1 triumph against AFC Aussie.

Lee Collard gave Heathview a narrow interval advantage before AFC Aussie hit back with an equaliser early in the second period.

Heathview's keeper made some stunning saves to keep his side in it and his efforts were not in vain as late goals from Lee Biggs (2) and Dave Collard killed off AFC Aussie.

Elsewhere in Group C, strikes by James Simmons and Luke Vint were not enough to prevent Culverstone United going down 5-2 at the hands of Woodcombe Sports & Social.

John Freeman's strike for Craggs Farm Reserves in Group B against Medway Knights was a mere consolation as his side lost 4-1.

Dave Goodwin found the target twice for Viewpoint against Group A favourites Canterbury City at the AEI ground, but it was not enough to prevent a 4-2 reverse, although Viewpont had their opponents on the back foot for long periods.

In the Presidents Cup Group A, Damien Blowers (4), Dan Asbury and Mark Pool helped Ace of Clubs secure a 6-3 victory at Viewpoint Reserves.

There was no shortage of goals in the Group B meeting between Peacock Celtic and The Rising Eagles.

Celtic found themselves 4-0 behind at the break with Hardip Virdee (2), Paul Adams and Chris Taylor doing the damage.

Peacock made a game of it in the second half and Tim Edwins scored a fine hat-trick.

However, Eagles added a fifth goal for a 5-3 victory.

Aaron Tuitt gave Horns Cross United an early lead against Premier Division opponents Real Man of Kent.

Russ Wilde drew Kent level before a further two strikes from Tuitt and solo efforts by Paul Colding and Aston Quinn eased Horns Cross to a 5-1 triumph.

In the Premier Division, there was no separating The Old Prince of Orange and Craggs Farm.

Prince's Delroy Samuel and Farm's Steve Cook both found the net in the first half and their efforts were matched by Mark Bruce (Prince) and Elijah Eastwood (Craggs) after the break as the contest finished 2-2.

The meeting between the top two in Division One finished all square after leaders Guru Nanak Reserves were held 1-1 at Ace of Clubs Reserves.

Hardip Dale opened the scoring for Nanak before a twice-taken penalty by Craig Josh restored parity.

For the second time this season, Duke of Wellington held a half-time lead only to lose it in the second period.

They were 2-1 to the good against Swan Valley at the midway stage before eventually going on to lose 5-3 with Paul Woolton, Steve Baker, Steve Sutton and substitute Dan Vigors (2) securing the points for Swan.

With Heathview United on cup duty, Meopham took the chance to close the gap in Division Two by winning 5-0 at Beausports thanks to Adam Cable, Matt Taylor, Harry Ring, Gary Witcomb and Jeremy Aves.

Damien Cook headed home the only goal of the game for Stone C&I at AZ 82 to move his side above their opponents in the table and up to fifth spot.

Ross Fegan avenged an earlier 2-1 defeat for Waterloo at Earl Grey with the only goal of the game at Kings Farm.

Fleetway Printers comprehensively beat fellow strugglers Joydens Wood 5-0 thanks to Simon Collins (2), Gareth Snell, Tom Carmichael and Darren Simms.
