Lee Bowyer gave an insight into the frustration of Lewis Page’s injury.

The left-back has yet to feature this season after picking up a hamstring injury at the back-end of pre-season.

Having missed the majority of last season through a groin injury, Bowyer’s frustration at not being able to call upon the 23-year-old who penned a new deal at The Valley last season is clear to see.

Upon signing the deal in November, Bowyer labelled the former West Ham man ‘the best left back’ in League One, but with just a handful of games since then, the Addicks boss is yet to see the best of him.

“The situation with Pagey is, I don’t know what’s going on with Pagey,” he said.

“The physio rang me on Sunday and told me he started to run outside but there’s something wrong.

“I told him, now just tell me when he’s going to train.

“I don’t want to hear any more of ‘there’s something wrong’, I just want to know when he can train.

“It’s happening too many times.

“That’s the situation.”

Page made just 11 appearances last season with a groin injury in October cutting his season short.

The left-back was a stand-out performer for Bowyer in second half of the 2017/18 season as The Addicks made a late charge for the play-offs.
