Lee Gregory has confirmed he will be leaving Millwall in an emotional message to the Lions fans.
It was widely expected that the 30-year-old would move on when his contract expires in the summer after five years and 77 goals for the club, with Stoke City reportedly interested in the striker.
Gregory was the club’s top scorer this season with 13 goals in 51 appearances as Neil Harris’s side narrowly avoided relegation.
“Been thinking for a few days what I could say and it’s been hard to find the best way to say it.” Gregory posted on Twitter.
“I’ve had the best five years I could have ever had, from day one the fans and the club have welcomed me with a great reception and I am so thankful for everything you have given me.
“As hard as it is for me it’s time for me to move on to the next chapter in my career.
“I want to thank the lads which I am going to miss massively and what a set of lads, the staff for everything they have done for me from the gaffer all the way to the girls in the office that looked after me, you have helped me so much and it didn’t go unnoticed.
“Then last of all the crazy fans that have supported me over the years, you have been amazing through good and bad times and to now vote me your player of the season has just topped it off for me.
“Millwall will stay with me forever,
“Thank you and see you soon,
“Milllll”
