Charlton will have to wait on the fitness of four player ahead of their trip to Coventry on Boxing Day.

Following their 2-0 victory over Gillingham on Saturday, Lee Bowyer will have an anxious wait to see if midfielder Joe Aribo and striker Lyle Taylor will be fit for the trip to the Ricoh Arena.

Aribo left the field on 73 minutes to be replaced by the fit again Darren Pratley, while Taylor left the field on 80minutes.

“Joe Aribo came off struggling with his knee,” Bowyer said.

“Hopefully Joe will be ok. He said his knee is really sore and so fingers crossed Joe will be alright. The last thing we want to do is lose another midfielder.

“Lyle came off, he’s ill, he’ll be alright though.”

Missing from Saturday’s matchday squad was Jamie Ward and George Lapslie.

Ward is still coming back from a thigh strain while Lapslie suffered concussion from a slip in training.

Speaking of the pair’s involvement in the Coventry clash, Bowyer was hopeful of getting the duo back in the fold.

“Ward maybe, maybe George. We’ve got three or four days so I’m hoping we’ll have both of them back for the Coventry game. There are three close games together so we’ll have to rotate, the more players we’ve got back the better.”
