Charlton will not appeal Naby Sarr’s red card picked up in the 2-0 win over AFC Wimbledon.

Sarr was given his marching orders just 39 seconds in to the London derby for a dangerous tackle on Tennai Watson.

Addicks manager Lee Bowyer revealed he’s taken advice and will not be appealing the decision and now Sarr will serve his three-match ban.

That means he will not play for Charlton the rest of this year.

“Chris Parkes (club secretary) seems to think that we wouldn’t be able to overturn it,” said Addicks manager Lee Bowyer.

“He has got more experience than me on this over the years.”

Despite not appealing Bowyer sympathises with the defender who will now miss Charlton’s games against Gillingham, Coventry and Barnsley.

“I thought it was harsh, I have seen it back now. There is nothing malicious in it, it’s just slightly mistimed. You’re talking about a split second. You could even argue he won the ball first.

“He’s such a big fella that his momentum took him through the fella.”

Charlton currently sit fifth in League One.
