Ryan Leonard has joined Millwall from Sheffield United while George Saville has left the Den for fellow Championship club and playoff chasers Middlesbrough.

Both are currently on loan from their previous clubs while their transfers will become permanent in the new year.

Neither players' fees have been disclosed by Millwall but both were confirmed to be club records.

Leonard said: “I'm very happy to be here and looking forward to getting the Millwall shirt on and getting going with playing games.

“I have played here numerous times as an away player and it is not always the easiest place to do so, so for me doing so as a Millwall player in front of the fans is going to be brilliant.”

He was unable to feature in the 2-1 defeat to Swansea City but will be eligible against Leeds United following the upcoming international break.

Neil Harris has added the latest midfield reinforcement alongside Jem Karacan who played a part in the dramatic 3-2 Carabao Cup win over Plymouth Argyle.

They also join Jiri Skalak and Tom Bradshaw in boosting the Lions’ attacking options as Millwall seek to build on last season’s successful Sky Bet Championship return.
