Blackburn boss Tony Mowbray is set to rest some of his stars against Charlton.

Rovers gained promotion back to the Championship on Tuesday - and face fifth-placed Charlton today.

Mowbray said: “There are a few slight issues.

“We’ve had some walking wounded for the last three or four weeks that we have kept under wraps.

“Now this job has been done [promotion] they probably won’t play which you will see who’s not going to play against Charlton.

“We have had players who have been playing who shouldn’t have been playing football matches over the last three or four weeks, but now they don’t have to play.

“I don’t want them to miss their whole summer of rest by having to come in for treatment.

“The team will reveal who doesn’t play. There are one or two players that I want to leave out and rest but they say they will be fine. That’s okay, I will let them decide because they know the consequences of the damage they can do.”

Charlton could secure a play-off spot if they beat Blackburn and their promotion rivals drop points.

Mowbray added: “You play through the niggles and the tight hamstrings, your sore muscles, you just played.

“We have had players do that over the last month but now with two games to go, they don’t have to put themselves in a position where they could miss the whole summer if something went wrong.

“There will be one or two changes but still put in a performance to try and win the game.”
