Charlton caretaker boss Lee Bowyer believes Joe Aribo is capable of playing at a higher level than League One.

Aribo, 21, has been one of Charlton’s most consistent performers this season, netting six goals.

He struggled for game-time at the start of the campaign - and then-manager Karl Robinson considered sending the midfielder out on loan.

But he was given his chance after injuries to Jake Forster-Caskey and Ahmed Kashi.

Bowyer, who has been working with Aribo to improve his goal tally for a year now, told News Shopper: “Joe is already a great player. He’s gone from a good player to a great player now.

“I think he’ll only improve. He’s only young. He’s improved so much in the time I’ve been here. He’ll keep on improving because he’s a good lad who wants to improve.

“He’s got the right attitude and hunger for the game so he’s going to be a very good player.

“He’ll definitely be playing at a higher level. It’s down to him to keep his feet on the ground and keep working hard and keep believing in himself.

“It’s a confidence thing with Joe. He’s definitely improved and I can see that he has great potential.”
