Alan Curbishley attended Charlton’s recent home win over Plymouth to support his former player Lee Bowyer.

Charlton academy graduate Bowyer made his senior debut under Curbishley in 1994.

Eyebrows were raised when the Addicks legend was spotted at the Valley on Saturday - with some fans suggesting he could have been involved with the ongoing takeover.

But Curbishley, who guided Charlton into the Premier League, was only there to watch Bowyer’s first game in caretaker charge.

He told News Shopper: “I heard he [Curbishley] was proud because I played under him.

“But he texted me on Friday and said ‘good luck - if you need any advice give me a shout’ which was nice.

“I’ve had that from a lot of people in the game that I’ve been in and around.

“I heard that Curbs was there and apparently he was really proud. I didn't get to see him after the game, though.”
