Crawley boss Harry Kewell has played down talk of a move to Charlton.
Karl Robinson is set to leave his post as Addicks manager today after becoming increasingly frustrated with owner Roland Duchatelet, who is trying to sell the club.
An Australian consortium are understood to be one of two parties interested in completing a takeover.
On Tuesday, a national newspaper claimed Kewell, who is in his first senior management role with League Two Crawley, would be the Aussies’ first-choice for the Charlton hotseat.
But former Liverpool star Kewell, who was capped 56 times by Australia, told the Crawley Observer: “What makes me laugh is just the fact an Australian consortium goes and buys a club and you automatically think they are going to take an Australian.
“What do you want me to say? I worry about Crawley and that’s it.
“Charlton are a massive club and they have great potential. Look at the stars they have produced, like Karlan Ahearne-Grant.
“For me it’s a huge club but you guys put an Australian consortium together and there’s only one Australian manager over here [in England] and you go ‘oh he’s got the job’”.
Lee Bowyer and Johnnie Jackson are expected to take charge of first-team duties for Charlton's game against promotion rivals Plymouth on Saturday.
