Charlton boss Karl Robinson has told Steve Evans he has taken over a “very good” Peterborough team.

Robinson’s men travel to Peterborough today for Evans’ first game in charge with both clubs fighting for a play-off spot.

And the Liverpudlian has highlighted Posh’s attacking trio of Marcus Maddison, Jack Marriott and Omar Bogle as threats.

He told News Shopper: “A new manager is always going to have an impact, especially when a character like Steve Evans goes in.

“He’s going to have them well-drilled, he’s had an extra week to work with them [due to last week’s postponement]. Some would say he wished he would've had last Saturday to have a good judge of where they're at.

“But I can tell him publicly, he’s taken over a very good team. I went to watch them against Walsall last week and they were very good. They were comfortable during the game and I was very impressed with them.

“I don't think it gets as good as [Marcus] Maddison, [Omar] Bogle and [Jack] Marriott. I think that’s as good as you're going to get.

“[Steven] Taylor is obviously a presence for them. Jack Baldwin is very strong, [Anthony] Grant in midfield, [Michael] Doughty and [Christopher] Forrester. So, we’re under no illusions.

“We’re going to go into this game against one of the teams, that if they get it right, they can be relatively unplayable.

“They’ve drawn five of their last six so they're not losing. But we’ve got to go there with a better mentality than against Shrewsbury.”
