Crystal Palace suffered last-minute heartbreak after going two ahead before Manchester United roared back to 3-2 in injury time.

Winger Andros Townsend drew first blood on 10 minutes, allowing Palace to go in 1-0 ahead on half-time, before Patrick van Aanholt made it two on 48 minutes.

Chris Smalling got back seven minutes after the restart, then Romelu Lukaku got the equaliser, before Nemanja Matic’s long-range volley won it in injury time.

Here’s how News Shopper rated Crystal Palace’s players…

Wayne Hennessey – 6 – Hard to fault him for the goals, particularly Matic’s strike, he did everything required and pulled off some good saves.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 8 – A very impressive performance despite being only 20 years old, particularly after going up against Lingard, Sanchez, and Rashford.

James Tomkins – 7 – Lead from the back with Kelly and ensured Lukaku would not have easy avenues into the box, particularly in the first half.

Martin Kelly - 6 – Similar to Tomkins, made some critical interceptions, blocks and clearances in the first half when United threatened. Unlucky for the second.

Patrick van Aanholt – 9 – By far Palace’s best performer – was everywhere on the left side and used great awareness to score the second. Man of the match.

Andros Townsend – 8 – Was a headache for Ashley Young and provided some good deliveries into the strikers. Fortunate for the goal but still played solidly.

Luka Milivojevic – 7 – First 45 minutes were better than the second, but otherwise still made Pogba and Matic uncomfortable in possession.

James McArthur – 6 – Hassled and harried the ball carriers and helped double-up out wide when necessary, another good team performance. Missed a crucial chance though.

Jeffrey Schlupp – 6 – Didn’t see too much of him going forward, but in defence he was a big support for van Aanholt, can be credited for frustrating United’s creators.

Alexander Sorloth – 6 – Had attempts on goal and got wide to try and create chances for Benteke, he looked like a surprise package for an otherwise dreary United defence.

Christian Benteke – 8 – Neither Smalling or Lindelof could deal with him. Rose highest on multiple occasions to either get a header or win a foul. Brilliant goal-line clearance.
